At 5pm, on May 4th 2023, the doors of the much loved Murphy’s Bar re-opened. There has been a great anticipation over the last number of months about this day and it was great to see the bar quickly flooded with regulars of Murphy’s as well some new faces enjoying a pint and a catch up! Thank you to everyone who came and made it a special night.
The Louis Fitzgerald group purchased the pub from the Murphy family in 2022. As well as mandatory works required to re-open, the Fitzgerald family were keen to ensure the longstanding traditions, character and ambiance cultivated by the Murphy family for over 30 years remained intact and were respectively carried forward. With this in mind, every piece of furniture and fittings added has been thoughtfully selected and much of the new additions date back over 100 years or more.
We look forward to welcoming in old and new faces over the coming weeks and months.
Enjoy a beautiful pint of Guinness at bar or a Powers Whiskey from the barrel! Drop in for one of Galway’s best Irish coffees with a toastie! Sit outside and watch the world go by as you take a well deserved break.
